Parramatta Foreshore
Client: Parramatta City Council
Location: Parramatta
Date Completed: February 2010
Parramatta City Council contracted Statewide Civil to construct the third instalment of the Parramatta River Foreshore Upgrade Project. These works comprised from the Charles Street Ferry Terminal to the Gas Works Bridge in Parramatta.
Throughout the project consultation and monitoring was required with heritage and Aboriginal archaeological experts, to assure preservation of the historical site. Erosion control was another key focus as construction was being carried out adjacent to protected mangroves along the Parramatta River’s edge. The design of the project was very impressive with a patterned sandblasted cycleway, steel artwork set onto tiered walls and the reconstruction of a sentry box located in the original position it was built at the time of first settlement.
