The Pioneers Park project involved the remediation of an old landfill from the 1970’s. Statewide Civil assisted to reclaim the land and construct a new 2 tiered parkland consisting of a full sized sporting field on the lower tier and a dog walking park on the upper tier. Along with the parkland, two car parks, a cycleway, an irrigation system, and sports field lighting were also constructed. The remediation works included installing a geo-synthetic clay filled liner to cap the waste ready for construction of the new parkland. 32,000 tonne of virgin excavated material (VENM) was imported over a period of approximately three and a half weeks. The construction of the car park commenced alongside the upgrade of Anzac Parade with new kerb and gutter and cycleway works. The new car parks created 150 new parking spaces for members of the public utilising the sporting fields. 40,000M² of couch and 25,000 tube stocks of various indigenous plant species from the local area were used to finish off the project. Statewide Civil also conducted the majority of the maintenance work in house. Statewide Civil is very proud to have been able to reclaim unusable land and give it back to the community. The project has created a living and evolving eco system that gives home to numerous native insects, birds and animals.
